Bright Start

The Nursery was an exciting new addition for 2011 at Wilmslow Preparatory School developed between the Nursery provider and the school itself. Offering 28 exclusive places, the nursery provides a safe and happy environment for children aged zero to three years old. The Nursery’s vibrant structure includes room for three babies in our ‘Baby Room’, plus separate ‘Tinies’ and ‘Toddlers’ rooms.

Snug as a Bug

Placing your child in day care is a huge step for any family and we like to think that we can help make this transition easier for all. With huge emphasis on the individual needs of the child, our nursery environment is small, cosy, and safe. The happiness of the children in our care is paramount.

Our dedicated team of staff are led by the Nursery Manager, Caroline Sacco. Caroline is a qualified teacher who brings to bear not only her academic qualifications, but her wealth of experience, having been the provider of the Holiday Provision at the school from 2001 to 2011.

Caroline’s team is comprised of a balanced mix of highly experienced staff and talented younger staff to combine the rigours of extensive training with hands-on experience.

All the children in our care are assigned an individual member of staff as their main carer. This person will regularly report to parents or guardians and nursery management regarding the wellbeing and development of the child in their care. Regular communication between all those involved in the child’s care is one of the keystones of the way we work.

We actively encourage parents to chat with us on an ad-hoc basis – our doors are always open.

Security at our Private Nursery in Wilmslow

As you leave your child in day care, you need to know he or she is as safe as you would keep them yourself.

The Nursery prides itself on taking security very seriously. The building is converted from the old Kindergarten block and set within the fully enclosed secure grounds of the Prep School. The Nursery building is watched 24 hours a day by CCTV and has intercom-only entry.

Parents are encouraged to call The Nursery at any time to check on how their child’s day is going. There are days when you may feel anxious or simply just want to discuss happiness, general development, and wellbeing – all these questions and more, we are happy to discuss at anytime. We very much want to create a warm and trusting relationship with all parents – this bond is paramount in making The Nursery a warm and special place for both parents and their children.

Routine, Routine, Routine

As we all know, children thrive on routine. Here at The Nursery we endeavour to instil a sense of calm and routine into all we do. Our daily aims for all children are:

- Regular outdoor exercise
- Imaginative play
- Creativity
- Physical challenge (suited to age and ability)
- Free play
- Adult-led play

These activity programmes will adhere to and aim to exceed the Government recommendations for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The children will sit down to enjoy a morning snack, lunch, and dinner with strong emphasis on healthy, varied, and nutritious food. Breakfast and late milk and biscuits are also available.

We also encourage all children to take part in learning how our food reaches the table, from growing our own fruit and vegetables through to basic preparation.

The Toddler Year

One of the great assets about The Nursery is that is enables transition through to Kindergarten at Wilmslow Prep, and then onwards to the Reception Year at the school of your choice.

Our toddler year prepares the children for the next step on their education journey by gently integrating them with the older children. The toddlers will have opportunities such as taking their lunch in the main dining hall with their older peers, watching the infant school’s assemblies and plays and enjoying the school PTA-funded Christmas pantomime.

We feel this helps to smooth the transition; making it a time of excitement as opposed to worry, where the younger children start to find their place in the wider setting of the school.

It also offers the younger children the chance to assimilate and learn the school routine and practice social skills such as good table manners and behaviours.

The Nursery at Wilmslow Prep reflects your modern and busy lives and is therefore open year round, with the exception of the Xmas to New Year week.

Daily from 7:30am – 6:30pm.

We offer the following sessions: full day sessions, morning only, morning and part afternoon, and afternoon only. We have a small number of term time only places available, so please contact us today to discuss your needs and we will do our best to accommodate them. Because we are based centrally in Wilmslow we are convenient for families with older children already at other local schools and of course for those with children already at Wilmslow Preparatory School.
